How I came up with THIS GAme:

Given that our theme was Bricolage. The game I came up with was a action survival game where you, the player, has to survive incoming enemies by swinging your weapon around.

As the game goes on, pieces that can attach to your weapon spawn, attaching these pieces (in however way you want) extend the range and shape of your weapon (Hence Bricolage, “using what’s around you“). I came up with this idea by building upon the idea of using what’s around you. Players can adapt the shape of their weapon in any way they want based upon what is given to them. Different shapes can be provided and players can experiment with those different shapes.

The idea I came up with established a clear form of game play I felt. My only regret is that it did feel like it was a bit safe. I would like to explore more crazy ideas in the future.

What went right:

In terms of what went right, I believe I managed to meet all of my goals, and stay within the scope of the game. I also managed to get a full game loop going to feel like a complete game. Difficulty in the game ramps up quickly, and the players can rack up points to compete.

What went wrong:

It took me a while to come up with a game idea that fit the parameters of Bricolage.
